The Halifax Club was founded in 1862 as Halifax’s first private social club for business and political leaders. Located on Hollis Street in the heart of downtown Halifax, the Club has survived economic upheavals, urban renewal and the Halifax explosion. Now respectfully refurbished and renewed, the Club is proudly female owned and operated. It is a thriving second home for members, an outstanding place for business or meeting space bookings, and an award winning venue for weddings and events.
The Halifax Club offers fine dining options for our members daily, as well the finest selections with our in-house catering services. We continuously offer a variety of social events and networking activities for both our members and for the public. It is a place for all to unwind and relax in elegant comfort with fellow guests and will always provide you with a lush and luxury experience.

I've taken a lot of time to deep-dive into the Club's unique history and there has been a lot of changes since it opened 162 years ago. Knowing that the incredible team I'm a part of is included in that history is so neat to think about!”

I have been in various Halifax kitchens since I was young — working in delis, bistros, food trucks, restaurants and each has added a different skill to my cooking and my experience. I have always been passionate about sharing food with others. Making food for someone is a show of care. To create something that brings joy and happiness, to add to someone's evening, or experience in such a positive way — that’s why I do it and that’s why I love it so much.
As the Executive Chef of The Halifax Club for the past year, I have had the privilege to share my passion of food with the members, guests and clients of the Club. I love what I do, where I do it and the people I do it with. I am very proud of the work our team does and I am very excited to keep elevating the experiences we offer at the Club.”
Dining & Catering
Our culinary team and Executive Chef proudly prepares some of the finest dishes in the city, using local, fresh and high quality ingredients. Whether for a working lunch, an evening cocktail, or a formal dinner, you’ll enjoy our refined creations and impeccable service.
Dine in for lunch is available daily for members. Members who wish to dine in outside of our business hours are required to make a reservation by calling (902) 407-1112.
Our exceptional in-house catering menu is available by request for anyone looking to book a wedding or a special event.
Weddings & Events
The Halifax Club is the perfect venue to book weddings and celebratory events. Voted Platinum in ‘Best Wedding Venue 2023’ in Halifax Community Votes, a Canadian Choice Award winner for ‘Wedding Venues in Halifax 2024’ and winner of ‘Best Wedding Venue in Atlantic Canada 2024’ by LUXLife, we are pleased to offer some of the most beautiful, unique and elevated spaces in the city. Our professional and highly versatile kitchen staff are available to provide a wide range of elegant fare, and can accommodate most special requests. Our service staff and venue coordinator will ensure every need is met, while our event team will work endlessly to make your day memorable. We have three affiliated hotels that also offer discounted room rentals for our couples and guests.

Memberships & Meeting Spaces
We welcome interest from all persons as prospective members. A membership at the Halifax Club will open doors to new connections, new conversations, and new ideas. Our team is here for you and will support you in making the most of your membership. Members are expected to relate to one another as peers, respectfully and professionally.
We have various benefits for our members. This can include a welcome package, rates at affiliated hotels, exclusive perks with local businesses, breweries and wineries, dining discounts at local bars and restaurants, discounted and/or free on-site event and meeting space bookings, and reciprocal Club access across the world.
Members from affiliated Clubs are welcome during operating hours with advanced notice.
Business inquiries, room rentals, and meeting spaces bookings are also available for non-members.

The Halifax Club Cigar Shop
Welcome to Halifax’s finest Cigar Shop. We carry a wide range of premium Cuban, Nicaraguan, Honduran and Dominican brands. We also carry a fine selection of cigar accessories including personal humidors, cutters, lighters and more. We invite you to stop by our shop in the heart of Halifax and browse the excellent selection in our walk-in humidor.
The Cigar Shop is located at 1675 Granville Street (one block uphill from the Halifax Club's front entrance on Hollis,) and is open to the public (19+). Discerning aficionados, casual smokers and those new to the world of cigars—all are welcome. Our experienced staff would be delighted to meet you and help you find the perfect cigar for any occasion. We look forward to sharing our love of fine cigars with you.
CIGAR LOUNGE MEMBERSHIPS & DAY PASSES:
The Halifax Club is pleased to offer the only indoor smoking lounge, east of Montreal. Outfitted with a kitchenette and full bathroom, plush leather chairs and big screen TVs, it's the perfect place to enjoy your favourite cigar with likeminded people.
Day Passes are available for public use during shop hours, at the Cigar Shop for our Cigar Lounge. For $30, experience all the perks of membership, on a day-by-day basis! Food and beverage service may be available for purchase.
